District 5 “Neighborhood Make Over”
On Saturday, May 20th the City of New Iberia along with Keep New Iberia Beautiful held its second “Neighborhood Makeover”. This makeover encompassed District 5 of the City of New Iberia.
Nineteen tons of trash was picked up in District 5, including sofas, cigarette butts, wood piles, old toys, and furniture. Volunteers started that morning and ended at noon with lunch provided by the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s office at the Star Pilgrim Baptist Church annex.
Many accolades go out to all those who joined in to make this another successful trash sweep. Special thanks go out to Ms. Dena Maturin, Keep New Iberia Beautiful Director; Mr. James Russell, Public Works Director; Ms. Lindsey Segura, Supervisor Gordon’s Disposal and Landfill; The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office; Mr. Phil Haney, 16th Judicial District Attorney; and Mr. Raymond “Shoe-Do” Lewis, Council Member District 5.
Congratulations to District 5 for their “Neighborhood Make Over” success on May 20th.
The next Neighborhood Make Over is to be announced this fall.
