Household Hazardous Waste Day a Success 2007
On Saturday, March 10, 2007 the City of New Iberia held another very successful Household Hazardous Waste Day.
Total tonnage received was 33.75 tons which included 2.5 tons of motor oil, anti-freeze and solvents; 4 tons of batteries; 7 tons of latex and oil paint; 10 tons of steel; 50 tons of consumer electronics; 2 ounces of pure mercury; .25 tons of miscellaneous items and 100 florescent bulbs (mercury) collected.
Special thanks goes to Ms. Geri Frederick, City of New Iberia Recycling Director, who coordinated this successful day. Also thanks go out to Mr. James Russell and Mr. Kim Sheppard of the New Iberia Public Works Department, and Chief Ronnie Bourque and Mr. Marty Delaune of the New Iberia Fire Department.
