The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board meets the third Thursday of every month at City Hall. The MYAB consists of area teens from different schools. The members were chosen by principals, guidance counselors, or recommendations due to leadership abilities. This board endeavors to advise the Mayor on issues important to teens and to perform various clinic activities.

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board was formed in March 2001. Thus far the group has participated in various local community activities such as Christmas in April and the American Heart Walk. The MYAB along with Wayne and Leatrice Broussard, painted a patriotic scene on a vacant store front on Main Street in memory of the September 11th attacks on America. The group also presented recommendations to the Mayor concerning the juvenile’s interview room.
