Get your drivers license at the Office of Motor Vehicles, open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. 4:00 p.m. located at: 1613 East Main Street, 337-373-0054.
- New residents must buy a Louisiana drivers license and register their vehicles 30 days after establishing residency in the state.
- Holders of valid out-of-state drivers licenses are not required to take the driving test. However, they must take the visual and other tests.
- The bureaus will accept only cash, money order or cashiers check for the drivers license, which costs $18.
- For a Louisiana drivers license bring your current drivers license, two forms of identification that show proof of residence and your Social Security card as well as proof of auto insurance.
Vehicle Registration
- New residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency in the state.
- A license plate costs $20 for two years on automobiles up to $10,000 in value. If you have an automobile valued at more than $10,000, call for exact fee.
- Bring with you proof of liability insurance and the title or the lien holder information. If you have paid sales tax on the vehicle(s), bring with you proof of this payment.
