Hurricane Assistance & Plan of Action

Hurricane season is fast approaching and everyone needs to prepare, here are some key points to follow:

To establish an out of town/state contact number that everyone in your family is aware of to arrange for a place to go in the event of an evacuation.
Make plans for your pets.
Make a personal disaster kit with items similar to if you were going on a camping trip.
If an evacuation is called, the decision should be made already. LEAVE

In the event of a mandatory evacuation, the City of New Iberia is putting together a database of those who will need assistance leaving. If you have special needs or have difficulty evacuating, please try to identify and arrange, in advance, for assistance with evacuating. If you, or someone you know, is not able to get out in the event of an evacuation, please call 337-369-2313 to add your name to the list. That number is 337-369-2313. We will turn this information over to the Office of Emergency Preparedness for assistance.
