Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board 2006
The Mayor's Youth Advisory Board provides New Iberia's young people with an active role in addressing youth issues. High school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are selected to serve as volunteer representatives of the city. The young advocates outreach to New Iberia teens, inform them of existing opportunities and listen to suggestions on what the city can do to improve its youth oriented efforts. This years’ board comprises 21 high school students who have maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average, said board director Geri Frederick. The group will be working this year on many upcoming city events, such as the Downtown Art Walk and Household Hazardous Waste Day.
