New Iberia Public Works Department

The New Iberia Public Works Department is working today for tomorrow’s New Iberia.

Our employees deliver quality, cost-effective, efficient and safe services involving public infrastructure and facilities. We work diligently to enhance the quality of life in New Iberia, and for the effective protection of public investment in the city’s infrastructure.

Services Provided:

Streets and Drainage

• Drainage installation, repairs, and maintenance
• Maintain, replace/repair city traffic signs and signals
• Construct, repair, and maintain streets, alleys, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
• Street sweeping and general sanitation
• Maintain grass, weed, trim branches which may obstruct visibility (on city rights-of-way).
• Recycling and garbage collection contracted with BFI
• Residential yard waste and light debris removal contracted with Gordon's Construction and Landfill.
• Provides sand bags for flood controls when weather threatens flooding conditions
