Building Inspections People building within The City of New Iberia can schedule inspections for all permits issued once construction has been completed. Building permits have four associated inspections:
1. footing inspection,
2. foundation inspection,
3. framing and insulation inspection and
4. final inspection.
Electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections all require a rough-in inspection and a final inspection. Other inspections vary due to the types of construction and permits issued. It is required that the Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Contractors on a job call the Inspection Department themselves for their inspections.
When requesting an inspection, please provide the type of inspection needed and relevant permit numbers, the time and date you would like the inspection, address of where the inspection will occur, the name of the customer and the name of the contractor. Allow a minimum of four (4) hours from the time of your request until a building inspector inspects your site. After the inspection has been completed, a sticker will be left in a central location on the premises, in the event no one is present on the job site. The sticker will indicate the date and type of inspection and whether or not the inspection passed.
If you are requesting an inspection or would like more information, stop by the New Iberia Inspection Department located at 457 E. Main Street, Room 412, between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, or call the department at (337) 369-2354. |
