Mechanical Permits If you are planning a construction project within the City of New Iberia that involves the addition, replacement, repair or alteration of mechanical systems in structures, including the installation of grease hood systems in commercial buildings, contact the New Iberia Inspection Department to learn the required and recommended steps for performing mechanical work within the City.
You are required to obtain a licensed mechanical contractor to perform all mechanical work in the City of New Iberia. The mechanical contractor must apply for a mechanical permit before any work can begin. The cost of a mechanical permit is dependent on the nature of the work.
Once mechanical work has been completed, the mechanical contractor can request an inspection from the Inspection Department. When requesting an inspection, please have your contractor give relevant permit numbers, the time, date, the name of the customer and the place you would like the inspection. Allow a minimum of eight (8) business hours from the time of your request for a mechanical inspector to visit your site. After the inspection has been completed, a sticker will be left in a central location on the premises that indicates the date of inspection and whether or not the work passed.
If you would like a permit application, inspection or more information about ways the Inspection Department can assist you, visit the office at 457 E. Main Street, Room 412 from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, or call the department at (337) 369-2354. For a Mechanical Permit Application click here |
