Plumbing Permits If you are planning a construction project within The City of New Iberia that involves the addition, replacement, repair or alteration of water and sewage systems in and around structures, contact the New Iberia Inspection Department for the required and recommended steps for performing plumbing work in the City. This includes work with water service, drains, gas lines, sewer lines and related fixtures and appliances.
You are required to obtain a licensed plumbing contractor to perform all plumbing work in the City of New Iberia. The plumbing contractor must apply for a plumbing permit before any work can begin. Plumbing permits are based upon the number and types of fixtures, sewers, drains and water service piping that are included in the project. The cost of a plumbing permit is dependent on the nature of the work.
Once plumbing work has been completed, the plumbing contractor should request an inspection from the Inspection Department. When requesting an inspection, please ask your contractor to give relevant permit numbers, the time, date and place you would like the inspection along with the name of the customer. Allow a minimum of 8 business hours from the time of your request for a plumbing inspector to visit your site. After the inspection has been completed, a sticker will be left in a central location on the premises that indicates the date of inspection and whether or not the work passed.
If you would like a permit application, inspection, or more information about ways the Inspection Department can assist you, visit them at 457 E. Main Street, Room 412 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call the department at (337) 369-2354. For a Plumbing Permit Application click here. |
