Hood & Duct Permits A hood and duct permit is required to install or construct hood and duct fire extinguishing systems in all commercial structures within the City of New Iberia. You are required to obtain a licensed mechanical contractor to perform this type of work. Once a complete set of plans for the construction is approved by the New Iberia Inspection Department, a hood and duct permit will be issued to the mechanical contractor for the project. Additional permits may be required depending on the nature of the work. The cost of the permit is a base amount of $20.00 plus additional fees dependent on the scope of the work.
Hood and duct systems also require inspection by the New Iberia Inspection Department before the system can be used. To request an inspection, please have your mechanical contractor contact the department at (337) 369-2354 and give them the relevant permit numbers, the time and date you would like the inspection, where the inspection will occur and the name of the customer. Allow a minimum of eight (8) business hours from the time of your request for an inspector to inspect your site.
For more information about hood and duct permits, fees and inspections, contact the Inspection Department located at 457 E. Main Street, Room 412, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, or call the department at (337) 369-2354. |
