House or Structure Moving - Right of Way Permits

Any construction or demolition within the City of New Iberia that involves the use or occupation of any right-of-way to transport a house or other structure from one place to another requires a house moving permit issued by the New Iberia Inspection Department prior to beginning work. Permit fees to move buildings depend on the size of the house or structure. Other costs and permits may be necessary depending on where the house or structure is located prior to being moved.

These permits can be obtained from the Inspection Department located at 457 E. Main Street, Room 412, between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Please allow a minimum of two (2) days to process a completed permit application. For structures over fourteen (14) feet high, service and utility company approvals of the route is required.
