Sign Permits In New Iberia a sign permit is required before construction or modification of the element. Additionally, illuminated, neon, or fluorescent signs also require an electrical permit. Zoning ordinances provide the following standards for signs in the City of New Iberia:
Signs shall not be placed in the public right of way, including sidewalks.
Signs shall not physically or visually obstruct or impede pedestrian or vehicular movement.
Signs shall not be placed on any fence, telephone pole, or traffic control device.
Signs are not allowed on corner lots in the required sight triangle.
Flotation devices are not allowed as signs.
Temporary signs are allowed for no more than 30 days.
