Storage Shed Permits

A storage shed permit is required prior to construction of all sheds built within The City of New Iberia. A building plan and site plan showing lot size, property lines, and the location of all existing and proposed buildings must be approved by the New Iberia Inspection Department before a storage shed permit will be issued. No storage sheds are allowed in a front setback.

Shed construction must be in compliance with zoning regulations in your area. In this case, the Inspection Department will contact you to inform you of next steps you will need to take, such as applying for easements to ensure proper zoning. The cost of the storage shed permit is $.11 for residential and $.14 for commercial projects per square foot, with a minimum cost of $25.00 to receive the permit. Additional permits and fees may be required depending on the nature of the project.
