ew Iberia is a beautiful city and offers an unmatched quality of living in Acadiana. This information on solid waste and recycling services is meant to help you make the most of your services and help keep the city's appearance neat and clean.
- Residential Services (Excluding commercial type and/or
waste generated by third party Contractors)
Residential Solid Waste & Source Separated Residential Material (recycling) collection and disposal/processing services are provided by Allied Waste Services for and on behalf of the City of New Iberia to all residential units and small commercial units that require no more than once per week pick-up, with a maximum of two (2) thiry-five (35) gallon containers per pick-up.
- Collection Times
Put your cans out early! Solid waste and recycling containers are to be places at curbside no later than 5:00 AM on the designated collection day. Please put your containers out the night before your collection day to be sure you won’t be missed.
- Solid Waste Containers (Residential)
Containers are defined as “a receptacle with a capacity of greater than twenty (20) gallons but less than thirty-five (35) gallons constructed of plastic, metal of fiberglass, having handles of adequate strength for lifting, and having a tight fitting lid capable of preventing entrance into containers by vectors. The mouth of the container shall have a diameter greater than or equal to that of the base. The weight of a container and its contents shall not exceed thirty-five (35) pounds.
- Recycling Services
Source Separated Residential Materials to be collected include 1) brown, green and clear bottles and jars, 2) aluminum cans, 3) newspapers, 4) plastic containers coded “1” or “2”, 5) tin and steel cans and 6) mixed paper junk mail, OCC, magazines, catalogs and telephone books.
- Special Services
Bulky waste such as household furniture will be collected at curbside; however, waste tires and appliances like refrigerators, stoves and hot water heaters will not be collected and should not be put at the curb. Check with local dealers for proper disposal.
Paint cans must be dried out or empty. To dry out paint, mix with kitty litter to solidify. Have lots of paint? Check with local charities they may appreciate the donations.
Debris left by construction contractors or tree services must be cleaned up by the contractor and should not be put at the curb.
