New Iberia Waste Water Department
The City of New Iberia Wastewater Department protects water quality and prevents water pollution by providing wastewater treatment to the New Iberia area. The City's wastewater collection system consists of two wastewater treatment facilities, 120 miles of sewer line, 2000 manholes, and 61 pump stations. One of the plants is operated jointly with Iberia Parish Sewer District 1. Wastewater collection and treatment employees have an enormous responsibility of maintaining and operating our wastewater system. Their commitment, self-sacrifice, and community service is vital to protecting the health and general well-being of our entire community.
In addition to operating and maintaining the wastewater collections and treatment systems, our division also provide services such as:
- Providing Line Crews to clear service lines between private property and the main line (this service is available 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.);
- Providing “clean-outs” to allow access to service lines;
- Providing sewer taps for new or additional service (to obtain a permit for a sewer tap, call the Inspections Department at 369-2354);
- Opening collection system lines with pressure washer and root cutter, when necessary.
